RayNeo, an augmented reality (AR) technology company, and Ant Group have announced a strategic partnership to develop and deploy innovative digital payment solutions globally, beginning with in-store payment scenarios leveraging AR glasses.
The collaboration will initially focus on enhancing in-store payment experiences through AR glasses. RayNeo’s X3 Pro AR glasses are the first to support payments via the Alipay Tap! merchant terminal in China. This functionality will extend to other RayNeo product lines, including the RayNeo V3 and V3 Slim.
Launched by Ant Group in China in 2024, Alipay Tap! allows users to complete payments by tapping their unlocked phone against a merchant terminal or an Alipay Tap! Tag, eliminating the need to open an app or scan a code. By April 2025, Alipay Tap! had reached over 100 million users.
With AR glasses, the payment process is streamlined, offering a hands-free experience. Users link their RayNeo X3 Pro AR glasses to their Alipay accounts and enable voice verification. To pay in-store, users can command, “RayNeo, pay 10 RMB.” The glasses then scan the Alipay QR code or the Alipay Tap! merchant terminal. Payment is confirmed by voice, completing the transaction.
The RayNeo X3 Pro, powered by the RayNeoOS 2.0 system, was launched in May 2025. This AI-enabled AR device supports features such as AI translation, immersive navigation, and AI-powered recording. The newly integrated payment capabilities are secured by Alipay’s multidimensional risk-control solution, ensuring payments are processed only upon verification by the authorized user.
The RayNeo X3 Pro is slated to introduce AR glasses payments to users and merchants worldwide through Alipay+, the unified wallet gateway service under Ant International. Looking ahead, RayNeo and Ant Group plan to expand AR glasses applications to everyday services, including unlocking delivery lockers and paying utility bills, aiming to integrate AR glasses into daily life as a personal assistant.
