Syncurrent, a government technology company, has partnered with the Michigan Municipal League (MML) and the State of Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (MI-LEO) to enhance the state’s centralized AI-powered grant system, known as the “MI Funding Hub.” This collaboration aims to increase the transparency and accessibility of critical funding for local and tribal governments across Michigan.

Through its integration with Syncurrent’s AI infrastructure, the MI Funding Hub now enables local and tribal governments to efficiently track and apply for state and federal grants. These grants are crucial for supporting community initiatives such as infrastructure improvements, affordable housing projects, and other investments beyond operational budgets. Syncurrent’s AI-powered platform consolidates multiple federal and state databases, providing a collaborative environment for users and matching them to relevant and eligible funding opportunities within minutes.

Dhruv C. Patel, Syncurrent CEO and Co-Founder, highlighted the importance of outside funding for essential local services like water, transportation, and parks. He commended MI-LEO and MML for acknowledging the challenges local and tribal governments face in accessing such funding, emphasizing that these partnerships enable Syncurrent to continue developing solutions for communities nationwide.

Shanna Draheim, MML Director of Policy Research Labs, noted that Michigan is among a select few states offering a centralized, public-facing grant hub to local and tribal governments. She stated that while obtaining up-to-date and relevant grant information had been a challenge, Syncurrent’s government-wide framework for the MI Funding Hub significantly simplifies the grant identification process.

Jonathan Smith, Senior Chief Deputy Director, Labor and Economic Opportunity at MI-LEO, underscored that navigating public funding should not necessitate a full-time grant writer. He remarked that this collaboration combines public service expertise with Michigan-grown innovation to help local leaders concentrate on building stronger, more resilient communities rather than on bureaucratic processes.

Since 2024, Syncurrent’s platform has been utilized by over one hundred small governments across the country, directly sourcing grant data from federal and state agency websites and databases. In the same year, Syncurrent secured grant funding from the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development, marking it as the first AI startup to obtain a Rural Business-Cooperative Service Agreement.
