Abnormal AI, a specialist in AI-native human behavior security, has commenced operations in Japan, marking an expansion of its Asia-Pacific presence and reinforcing its global strategy to protect enterprises from advanced email threats using behavioral AI.

Japan is a key market for Abnormal AI due to its economic and technological prominence. Evan Reiser, Co-Founder and CEO of Abnormal AI, stated, “Japan is a cornerstone of our international growth strategy. As the third-largest economy and one of the most technologically advanced markets in the world, Japan presents a tremendous opportunity for Abnormal. We are committed to investing in the region to help Japanese enterprises redefine email security in the era of AI.”

The expansion addresses a notable increase in socially engineered email attacks targeting Japanese businesses, which traditional security tools often fail to detect. Abnormal AI’s cloud-native platform utilizes behavioral AI to identify anomalies in known normal behavior, effectively stopping various advanced email threats, including phishing, business email compromise (BEC), vendor fraud, and emerging attack vectors.

Kei Mitsuyama, Country Manager for Abnormal AI Japan, commented on the technology’s advantages: “Abnormal leverages AI-native technology to proactively detect and stop sophisticated cyber threats powered by malicious AI—threats that frequently evade traditional defenses. Our advanced AI-driven approach not only increases threat detection accuracy, but also simplifies operations, reducing the burden on already-stretched security teams.”

This launch builds on Abnormal AI’s momentum in the broader Asia-Pacific region, where the company is expanding its customer base and local teams in response to demand. Tim Bentley, Vice President of Asia-Pacific at Abnormal AI, noted, “We’ve seen remarkable growth across the region as organizations increasingly recognize the need for modern, AI-powered security solutions. Japan is a strategic market for us, and we’re excited to partner with leading enterprises here to deliver better protection with less complexity.”

Abnormal AI will exhibit its behavioral AI platform at the Gartner Security and Risk Management Summit in Tokyo from July 23–25. The company’s platform integrates via API with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, with additional protection for cloud applications such as Slack, Workday, ServiceNow, and Zoom. Abnormal AI currently serves over 3,200 organizations, including more than 20% of the Fortune 500. Its anomaly detection engine analyzes human behavior and risk across cloud email events to detect and stop sophisticated, socially engineered attacks.
